Okay, so here's a link to the "article" I found on Lion_Lamb, and then I'll copy/paste it here. I highly recommend going to the site though and reading the comments, if you're in need of a good chuckle. LOL

Stephen King Slams Stephenie Meyer: “Can’t Write Worth a Darn”
February 3, 2009
Snap! King of Horror Stephen King has some harsh words for the work of Stephenie Meyer, and says she’s not as talented as JK Rowling–
"Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people. … The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good.”
He then goes on to brainstorm why the Twilight series has been so successful–
But then King recalls that when his mom was alive, she read all the Erle Stanley Gardner books, the Perry Mason mysteries, obsessively when he was growing up. “He was a terrible writer, too, but he was very successful,” King says. “Somebody who’s a terrific writer who’s been very, very successful is Jodi Picoult. You’ve got Dean Koontz, who can write like hell. And then sometimes he’s just awful. It varies. James Patterson is a terrible writer but he’s very very successful. People are attracted by the stories, by the pace and in the case of Stephenie Meyer, it’s very clear that she’s writing to a whole generation of girls and opening up kind of a safe joining of love and sex in those books. It’s exciting and it’s thrilling and it’s not particularly threatening because they’re not overtly sexual. A lot of the physical side of it is conveyed in things like the vampire will touch her forearm or run a hand over skin, and she just flushes all hot and cold. And for girls, that’s a shorthand for all the feelings that they’re not ready to deal with yet.”
As much as I love the series, and the characters, I'll be the first to admit that he's right. She's not just the most amazing author in the world, but she's a darn good storyteller. She made me fall in love with the characters, and that's about as much as you can ask for in a book. Sure, I've read better books (and fics), but I've also read worse. *shrugs*
Her books are really easy to understand, since she doesn't go around throwing out big words that you'd have to look up, and I think that's one of the draws for the younger readers. I myself love to come across a word that I don't know, while reading, and then I immediately go and look it up. Can't stand to not know. LOL And it's greatly improved my vocabularly. I love it!
Anyway, it's humorous to go and read people's comments on the matter. You can definitely tell the older readers from the younger ones. LOL
